Shopping
on Phuket:
Phuket's OTOP, Jung Ceylon, Central Festival, Big C, Tesco Lotus, Super Cheap,
Street and Night Markets and more
From
pirated DVDs, software, handbags and more - to expensive teak and antique furniture,
Phuket offers it all. From the gritty street and night markets to upscale Jungceylon, Central Festival and Laguna's Canal Village there is
something for everyone here and those who enjoy shopping as entertainment
have found the right place . . .
Don't
forget to bargain for the best price, and always do it with a smile.
There is an art to it and done in a relaxed manner you may even find
"haggling" enjoyable. Consider it a competitive sport, albeit one
that is just for fun - don't take it too seriously.
Below
are the major shopping options on Phuket:
Patong OTOP Shopping Paradise [pictured above]: Great place for Thai
products and restaurants at good prices, a mandatory stop for shoppers in Patong.
Located just across Rat-U-Thit Road from the Holiday Inn.
Cultural experience, sensory shock and shopping extravaganza all in one,
Super Cheap is where everyone who lives on Phuket, expatriate or Thai
native, shops for their bargains.
Super Cheap
is located in northern Phuket Town on the west side of Thepkassatri Road
about two kilometers south of the T-junction with Bypass Road.
Tesco
Lotus Shopping Center: Over 50 different shops including the huge Tesco-Lotus
hypermarket.

Big C, just down the road and across the street from Tesco Lotus, just
north of Central Festival. The bottom floor is where everyone goes to find
a bargain for a mobile phone.

Jungceylon
Shopping Center in Patong Beach: Located 100 meters south of
intersection of Rat-U-Thit Road and BangLa Road. At present, over 105
shops and still growing - including a Carrefour hypermarket, Robinson
department store, SFX Cineplex and loads of chain stores and fast food
shops.

Central
Festival on Bypass Road near Phuket Town: At present over 150 shops
and room for even more. Central department store, SFX Cinema, Tops
Marketplace supermarket and much more.

Laguna Canal Village in the Laguna Resorts: Thirty plus upscale shops
including Jim Thompson retail and outlet shops.

Every village has its own
street and night markets. The markets will often only be open during
select days of the week. Ask at your hotel for the market nearest
you and when it is open.
