The Evanson Resort
Andaman White Beach Resort
Said
to be on Nai Thon Beach, the Andaman White Beach Resort actually
sits on its own private stretch of paradise - said to have been one
of the settings for the Leonardo DeCaprio movie, The Beach.
The beach IS white and the resort sits on a bluff overlooking the
sea.
The resort is a bit out of the way
- situated just south of Nai Thon - on the coastal road. It is just
a few minutes north of Trisara and the drive from Trisara to Andaman
White Beach Resort will give you this view from the roadside.
The resort has this beach all to
itself. The lobby, facilities, and accommodation areas of the
resort are joined by elevated walkways that always keep you in touch
with the great view.
Set in a quiet and secluded area -
if you seek a wider variety of restaurants and a longer beach to
walk on - the village of Nai Thon is just up the road a couple
kilometers - along what I call the "Trisara Loop" on my Best
Drives web pages.
Reservations 24 has a great photos
page of the Andaman White Beach Resort. Their photos are
much better than anything I could shoot for you. If you
enjoy a spectacular beach - and that tucked away in your own
paradise feeling - this is the place for you.
The drive to Patong Beach for night
life fans - will be about 35 minutes.

Cape Panwa Hotel
Almost a "boutique resort" - the
Cape Panwa Hotel has a little of the old world charm of Phuket.
Great views of Ao Yon Bay can be had from the grounds. Set up on a
steep hillside the resort has a tram to shuttle guests back and
forth to the small beach below. Check the Sino-Portuguese Thai
restaurant near the pool.
Views from some of the rooms and
the grounds are magnificent. This bay has a magical feel - that can
make you just sit and look. And look. Take a pair of binoculars or
a telescope and watch ships go through the bay to Phuket's deep
water port.
Reservations 24 has a great photos
page of the Cape Panwa Hotel. Cape Panwa is an interesting
area and worth exploring - as long as you are already there, rent a
car and look around a bit. The drive to Patong will be about 35
minutes from here.

The Evason Resort
The views from the Evanson Resort
can be astounding. Located on the south-eastern coast of the island
- the Evanson is a bit out of the way. But the ambience of this
resort may well be worth it. This area of the island, too, is home
to two of the drives on my Best Island Drives page on this
website. For a change of pace, it is just a short drive down to the
southern tip of the island - where you can sit on the beach and have
a beer at Nikita's - and watch the sunset.
Views from the restaurant, lobby,
and some of the rooms - can be quite mesmerizing. The photos page is
here: Evason Resort. For Patong nightlife fans - driving to
Patong will take about 40 minutes.

It's worth getting off the beaten
path a bit - Phuket has many hidden treasures - just waiting for you
to find them. In particular, the northern part of the island is
often unexplored. Get up there and take a look - you'll be
surprised at what you'll find. |
