Finding a
job and creating a good life on Phuket is quite possible. Finding
legal work
that can give you a decent income and a reasonably comfortable
lifestyle takes a little more effort and research as many people
would like to live and work on a beautiful tropical island and some are willing to trade
their skills for very little money.
Being a
popular tourist destination - there are a
variety of jobs
that provide legal employment for foreigners. Some categories of
employment are permissible and others are prohibited for foreigners.
One option
available to many is the
purchase of an
existing business to provide and
income and a work permit. Certain limitations apply, of course.
 Teaching
English is an option many choose if
they don't have other immediately marketable skills. While not
paying enough for an extravagant lifestyle - you'll earn at least
enough to provide for life's basics and enjoy yourself a bit. And,
it is one of the more legitimate ways of obtaining legal residence
and a work permit.
