Dessert and Special Treats on Phuket:
Phuket's Sweet Surprises
It's not all
Beach restaurants and five-star dining on Phuket. The island is
also blessed with a wonderful variety of native Phuket desserts
and international favorites.
For the best
pecan pie, not just on the island, but
on this side of the world try
Don's Cafe.
For
great pastries: blueberry and cherry tarts, cheese danish, tuna and
curry puffs - and simple ready-made tuna, ham and cheese
sandwiches and more, at great prices from B12 to 40 - check out Puff and Pie
located on Rasada Road right next to the Thai Air office in Phuket
Town.
Another great
bakery is Cappuccino 154 in the Royal Phuket City Hotel on
Phang Nga Road also in Phuket Town. They also have a great
selection of sandwiches that they can quickly make for eating there or take away.
The very best bakery of all though, and not
cheap by Thailand standards, but quite reasonable by Western
standards is the fine bakery that is below the lobby at the
JW
Marriot Resort
up in Mai Khao on the northern coast of
Phuket. From special breads to tasty chocolates, it's worth the
drive. If you like pecan sticky buns or great cinnamon buns (who
doesn't?) - get there about 10am when they come fresh out of the
oven. They sell out quickly though, so don't be late.
Flintstone's
has several bakery/sandwich shops on the island. One is north of
the Chalong Circle in on Chao Fa Road, another down in Rawai at the
southern tip of Phuket - between the Evanson Resort and Nikita's
Beach Bar - on the opposite side of the Road. They have another
shop called On
the Corner on Sawadee Rak Road just west of Rat-U-Thit Road in
Patong.
The truth is that
Phuket is filled with tasty wonders - almost down every street. The
more you explore - the more you will find. |
