Phuket's Best Island Drives:
The Prom Thep Cape Loop

The views from the southern tip of Phuket are stunning.  To the north you can catch views of the Phuket Yacht Club - and the Nai Harn Beach.  To the south are views of the Andaman Sea and neighboring islands.

There is a wonderful loop drive that runs from Rawai on the south of Phuket to Nai Harn beach.   From the Chalong Circle follow the main road south.  Stay on that road - even as it sweeps past the beach that defines the southern end of the island.  As you swing around the beach you'll come to a "T-junction" - where you turn left to Cape Prom Thep.  Avoid all the tourist shops by parking down the road and walking up to the view point.

This area is quite popular even with the local Thais who enjoy coming out to watch the sun go down.  After viewing the point - continue on the same road and you will come out in the Nai Harn Village area.  Turn left for Nai Harn beach - or turn right to catch the start of the Dream Land Loop.

There are some great residential areas in this area - worth checking out if you want to live on the island some day.  Though I believe that the northern part of the island offers a quieter retreat and more explosive growth in investment returns.  But the bargains on this part of the island make it worthwhile for the non-millionaires among us.
