Just a few shots
here - to give you a feel for this paradise! While checking
out this bit of flora fauna and sights - don't forget our
Sunsets and
Sunrises pages.
If you drive out into the countryside - you'll
be rewarded with quite a variety of wild flowers and exotic bushes
and tress in flower. It makes driving about the island very worth
while. Check out the
Best Island Drives
page.
First a little
flora: a lotus blossom, water lily, and hibiscus - all from my
garden.

Of the animal life on the island - birds are
by far the most dramatic. Check out the
Bird Watching
page. I've also seen (only twice though) a couple large Water
Monitors (a very large lizard), each at least one meter
long and quite chunky in build. Depending on the time of the year
snakes are easily seen (away from the cities of course). There are
of course - the famous beach dogs and soi dogs - but that's a
different story.
Then, a little
fauna: a Cormorant drying its wings, a Kata Beach iguana, and my cat
(Kitty Boy).

Phuket's temples
and festivals present a special opportunity for great photographs.
It's worth bringing a good camera with you - one that is small
enough that you won't mind carrying it with you all the time. I
promise you, you'll see something every day that will amaze you,
startle you or leave you laughing hysterically. So, don't forget
that camera. BTW, Thais aren't shy about getting their photograph
taken, but will (if you have a digital camera) want to see how it
looks, though they are always pleased with the result. Even
had a lady look at her photo once and cheerfully exclaim,
"Beautiful"!
Next, some local
specialties: a small gas station, inside Wat Cherng Talay, and two
shots from the Vegetarian Festival.

The sea always
present opportunities for great shots - sunrise, sunset, mid-day -
anytime!
And then, of
course, the seaside shots: sunset from the Lotus Restaurant on Bang
Tao Beach, a rice barge based ship anchored in Bang Tao Bay, Bang
Tao Lagoon Bungalows and a shot from Cape Panwa.
