Phuket's
Best Island Drives:
The Mission Hills Loop
{above}: Phuket's Mission Hills Golf Course
You
can't beat the views from the area around this golf course and
residential area on north-east Phuket. Turn off of the main highway
(402) just 600 meters south of the road to Phuket International
Airport. If you want to see more of the golf course itself, just ask
the public relations people at the Club House, they'll be happy to give
you a ride in club car - all around the course.
A
great drive in the immediate area of the golf course is the
Mission Hills Loop.
Take Thepkasatri Road, highway 402, the main road up and down the middle
of Phuket and connecting Phuket to the mainland. Just south of the
airport road on 402 - turn east onto highway 4027. Check the map below
and take the turn off up to Baan Laem Srai. Stay on that side road for
beautiful views of the sea once you get past the Laem Srai Resort. You
also, at the end of the loop come out right at the Mission Hills Golf
course.
The whole drive, even
if coming from Patong or Laguna, won't take more than a couple hours -
unless start wandering the side side roads. Don't
worry about getting lost, Phuket is a smallish island and every road
comes out somewhere!
This area will be the place for the next major
explosion of world class resorts and property developments. Give it
five years and you'll see some of the world's finest villas in this
area. |
