Laguna Phuket Golf Club, thirty restaurants and bars, a
shopping village, five of the best spas in the country, and beautiful
grounds create a setting you won't want to leave. The complex hosts five
distinctly different, yet all first class, resorts. As an
"integrated" resort complex, you can very conveniently shop or eat or
purchase anything anywhere in the five resorts and have it billed back to
your room or villa. For just a bit of the flavor of the area check
out my birdwatching
page - all shot within the Laguna Resorts area. Since I live in the
area - I jog on the Laguna golf course every morning - frequently eat at
the beach
restaurants - shop at Canal Village - and just for fun - cruise the resort
on the ferry boats that shuttle guests around the five resorts via the
interconnecting lagoons. If Phuket had only the Laguna Resorts - it
would still be a great destination.
Laguna Beach Resort
Dusit Laguna Resort Hotel
Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket
Allamanda Laguna Phuket Banyan Tree Phuket
Laguna Beach Resort (LBR)
This
resort sits on the south end of thecomplex and has the best swimming pool of
them all - including a giant slide (great if you are bringing kids).
It also has several great beach restaurants right on sand of Bang Tao
Beach. Strolling the beach will provide you with many great dining
options - should you wish for a change of pace. The
Photos
Page can give more information.
Dusit Laguna Resort Hotel

This resort is managed by the Dusit Hotels chain, and
perhaps because of that has a bit more Thai flavor to its design and
operation. The grounds are beautiful (as are all the resorts at
Laguna) and it is an easy walk to Canal Village for a little shopping and
the two restaurants there. Both the Dusit and LBR sit on a lagoon
where you can sail or use paddle boats in calmer water. They have
a small beach on the lagoon that people with young children might prefer.
The
Photo and Info page are here.
Sheraton Grande Laguna Phuket

Located in the center of the Laguna complex the Sheraton is
bordered on two sides by lagoons, one side faces the beach and another the
golf course. Particularly the lagoon on the south side is full of
birdlife - and just great for a stroll. There is a "nature trail"
that begins near the Sheraton entrance that will walk you around a lagoon
and to Canal Village. On the beach front are more restaurants
and you can find dining seaside in either direction. You can find
more information at the
Sheraton Photo page. Yes, it really is as lovely as the photo
shows!
Allamanda Laguna Phuket

The Allamanda consists of a variety of suites - some
sitting on the golf course - with beautiful views - some sitting on the
lagoon facing the sea. The golf course suites offer an opportunity
for the best bird watching on the island - and a peaceful stroll early in
the morning (before the golfers start shooting at you!). It's an
easy walk to the Sheraton or the Banyan Tree from here.

Banyan Tree Phuket

Phuket's classic - the
Banyan Tree Resort and Spa
sits between Bang Tao Bay and the Laguna Resorts Golf Course. The
resort has been voted "World's Best Spa Resort" by readers of Conde Nast
Traveller, The "Best Resort Hotel in Asia" by the Asian Wall Street
Journal and CNBC Asia, as well as "Asia's Top Vacation Resort" by
AsiaMoney Magazine. The Banyan Tree Resort and Spa is featured on my
Best of the Best page as it is
truly a world-class Resort and Spa.
If you only visit Phuket once - Laguna Resorts is the
place. The complex sits on Bang Tao Beach - featured on my
Favorite Beaches
page. Several great restaurants sit right on the beach - including
the Lotus - one of my
favorites.
